Change is on the horizon..
As I write this post, I am in the midst of another renewal for the radio show. Cross Driven Radio will celebrate 5 years on the air on June 3. In that time, I have come to know several of my listeners including Nancy, Cristy, and Thomas who came all the way from Wisconsin to see a Shaun Groves concert I promoted.
I have also had the opportunity to meet and interview several of the artists that I play on the show every week. Some of the highlights have been going to GMA Week for the first time, my first radio interview with Julian Drive, the 40 Day Fast series of interviews and promoting concerts with Shaun Groves, Wavorly, High Flight Society and more.
It has been quite a ride. Behind the scenes, I first took this time slot because it was available and I thought it would be good to have both Christian music shows back to back. Along the way that turned out to be a great blessing with the friendships I have made with Nancy, Thomas, Cristy, and others through that community.
I have been trying for the past 2 years to get a later time slot on the station, but to no avail. I feel the need to reach a bigger audience, but it is a very hard thing to do on Thursdays from 2-3. I know that most days with work schedules it is hard to tune in, somedays I can’t even tune in myself.
I have been seeing the podcast subscribers growing steadily with every episode with half of the promotion I do for the radio show. I have decided that I am going to renew for 1 more season in hopes that I can get a “prime time” slot. I hope to still be able to re run the current show during the regular time. (There are other shows on the station doing this) Honestly speaking, it can be mentally frustrating to put all of the prep and recording into the radio show and be the only listener.
I know that ultimately, I do this show for an audience of One, but yet it is also a blow to the ego to see all of the work go out and no one listen to it. I guess what it really boils down to is that I am wondering if the radio show continues to be a viable ministry as it is and continue to try for a prime time slot, or if I should pay more attention to the podcast since it is showing signs of rapid growth. One thing I do know is that one way or another, I will still be doing Cross Driven Radio, the question is radio, podcast, or both.
I would like to know what you the listener think of this post. Every comment will be entered into a drawing and I have some cool prizes to give away as well. So, radio, podcast, or both?

As you know, when I sat at a desk all day, it was easy for me to tune in via the internet every Thursday from 2-3. Now that I’m not sitting at a desk all day, I admit it’s been easier for me to listen via podcast. Please don’t think you’re the only listener … I enjoy your show TREMENDOUSLY!
(by the way, you made me feel pretty important up there! teehee)
I have only listened to the podcast and really enjoy it. Keep up the great work, Charley!
ps. Have you had a chance to work on the video…..Pens are playing tonight.
Go Pens!!
I do miss the games we watched between the Caps and the Pens, that was some pretty intense hockey.
Hey Cristy,
Thanks for the comment. What I was trying to say was that with the current time frame, I know it is hard to break away for an hour (or 2 when True Story was on) to listen in. Some days there are lots, some days there are few, but regardless of the amount of listeners, I feel God is in it. I think I have a pretty good show with something to offer, I just feel the need to offer it to more people..
BTW, I succeeded then, because you ARE important!
Brother B,
Thanks for the comment on the podcast, I really appreciate it. I have a little bit of video, but still looking for Pens attire, at least that I can afford… That was definitely some intense hockey. The finals have been pretty 1 sided so far and it looks like you are going to get your rematch with Detroit..
Thanks again for your support.
Oh, how was the camping trip?
Just print a logo and tape it to your shirt, that is enough for me…
I so want a rematch with Detroit. We will see tonight.
Camping was awesome, some needed rest and good fishing.
Charley,
I know how you feel. Although my situation doesn’t pertain to the airwaves, believe me when I say that I share the same feelings. I constantly desire and search for the doors to open. It has been a long wait, and one that I have developed patience for. I’ve come to accept the fact that my timing and God’s timing aren’t necessarily on the same time line. What seems like forever to me, is just an instant in God’s time.
Like yourself, I’ve met people along the way that I’ve blessed and they have blessed me. Some, I’ve never met in person, but they are permanently embedded into my life and heart! My hope always soars when I get feedback of a product that has touched a life! I never knew how something so small could make such an impact!
You’ve been given an incredible gift and should use it whenever and wherever possible! I certainly couldn’t do what you do… my voice just doesn’t have the right sound, not to mention that I would be so nervous that I would stutter and/or trip over my words! God knows what we each are capable of and gives of gifts accordingly to reach out and touch lives!
I believe in the mission path that God has placed before me and I will continue to press forward… and you should also! Just touching one life makes it all worthwhile! God has an awesome plan!!!
Peace and Blessings,
Tammy
