So GMA WEEK got underway today with Boot Camp. It is a weekend bonus series of seminars to get you ready for the main panel discussions that begin on Monday.
The first 2 sessions of the day was about starting up a business as a booking agent. I walked into the room and heard a call for security to remove the trouble maker in the yellow shirt. I look around the room for a suspect to put the Holy Smackdown upon, and I realized it was Ben talking about me. He quickly put the crowd that was about to layeth the smacketh down upon me that it was OK.
I had lunch with my good friends from Canada, Gerald and Sandra, and their business partner Steven. we had a great time catching up and an up and coming artist named Christine Evans performed 3 songs. She was really good. I have a CD and you will be hearing her on the show in the coming weeks.
I may have stumbled upon another new career in the music business. (let’s see, radio host, podcaster, concert promoter, bad american idol singer) and now a Booking Agent. Jeff Gregg from CAA was the facilitator for the seminar titled The Art Of The Deal. There was an exersize where 4 volunteers (I was one of them) were to become Booking Agents and the rest of the class was divided into 4 groups and they were to submit offers for a Family Force 5 concert. Needless to say, I was a shrewd businessman that looked out for the guys and drew out the promoter to find that it wasn’t a good deal for a couple of reasons. Hmm, Family Force 5, Booking Agent would be 5 jobs in the biz… hmmm..??..
After Boot Camp, Sandra, Gerald, Steven and I went down to the Honky Tonks of Broadway and found the deal of all deals, and what happened will bond this group of believers forever…
