New Music Tuesday : Children 18:3

by Charley on July 15, 2008

Sometimes you see something and it makes you wonder.  Quite honestly, that was my thought when I first saw a picture of Children 18:3.  By looks alone, they are not your typical Christian Rock band.  But, I had the opportunity to witness them RAWK at the Tooth And Nail showcase back in April at GMA.

It kind of makes sense to me that they are on T&N, because they are known for signing artists that in my opinion are not “CCM Bands” but rather, they are christians and are solely marketed to the mainstream market.  I struggle with that as I have tried to request interviews with this artist and this artist, and I was politely told that they don’t do interviews with christian media.  Hmm…

But I digress.  Children 18:3, also known as David, Seth, and Lee Marie Hostetter put on an impressive high energy rock stage show and are very entertaining with lots of stage movement and a fantastic aerial assault on the drums that makes the 80’s hair metal drummers look like beginners, except maybe Robert Sweet from Stryper.

Their music is straight punk music with driving guitars, booming bass, and very solid drumming.  It is the ultimate in driving, cranked to 11 music.  Lyrically, it is not a spritually deep cd, but I wouldn’t expect it to be.  This is a band that rocks and is something I haven’t seen since poison, a good, visually appealling, high energy party band.  Here’s the video for their new single, All My Balloons.

and also an awesome drum solo!
