Interesting question Charley.

I grew up in a non religious home. Christmas was never about the birth of our Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ. It was about time spent with family and friends. If you take it at that perspective, the songs would not be about Jesus and His birth. Even if a song played that was about Jesus you never truly took it as that.

As much as we as followers of Christ wish that the world see Christmas as we do, they do not and will not see it as we do. They see it as a commercial holiday. A day spent giving and receiving gifts.

There have been at least two radio stations since the beginning of November that have been playing Christmas music. I try not to listen those station. I do not mind the occasional Christmas song right now. The closer it gets to Christmas the more I will want to listen to it. For every song that is about our Lord Jesus Christ I will listen to a Rudolf or Santa song. Helps me to remember the fun times as a child.

Then again,I could be way off on this Charley.
