Fireproof Debuts at Number 4
Earlier, I posted about Fireproof. It was the 4th most attended movie of the week. Full details here.
Fireproof
Yesterday was my 12 year anniversary. On Saturday after soccer we went to do one of our favorite things as a family, and then off to take our daughter to a friends house for a sleepover.
We had a little bit of time to kill and then went to this place and got gas and movie tickets for our date night.
We went to see the new movie by The Kendrick Brothers, Fireproof. Fireproof stars Kirk Cameron as Caleb Holt and Erin Bethea as his wife Catherine. The movie starts off kind of slow, but it does a good job at setting the story line. One interesting aspect of the writing is that after the movie, certain facts that play a part in the ending were already answered in the earlier part of the movie, giving you an Ah Hah moment, which I really liked.
The movie profiles Caleb and Catherine as a couple that does not get along well. He is dreaming about a boat and she helps out with her mother that recently had a stroke. They are on a collision course until they ultimately talk about divorce. Caleb calls his parents to tell them about it, and the father asks him to wait 40 days before considering the divorce.
The 40 day journey is difficult at times, but Caleb learns an important lesson in the journey. The movie has some very funny parts, as well as some dramatic scenes including a fire rescue and a crash scene. The writing keeps you engaged and has several twists.
The music soundtrack is stellar and features music from Third Day, Leeland, John Waller and Warren Barfield. I can’t say enough good things about this movie. In fact, we are planning on seeing it again with some good friends of ours. If I were to give it a star rating, I would say 4 1/2 stars out of 5.
