New Music Tuesday : Children 18:3

Sometimes you see something and it makes you wonder.  Quite honestly, that was my thought when I first saw a picture of Children 18:3.  By looks alone, they are not your typical Christian Rock band.  But, I had the opportunity to witness them RAWK at the Tooth And Nail showcase back in April at GMA.  

 It kind of makes sense to me that they are on T&N, because they are known for signing artists that in my opinion are not “CCM Bands” but rather, they are christians and are solely marketed to the mainstream market.  I struggle with that as I have tried to request interviews with this artist and this artist, and I was politely told that they don’t do interviews with christian media.  Hmm…   Read moreRead more

The Future…..

This has been quite the week! As mentioned in my previous post, I was working at the Alexandria Waterfront Festival last weekend. This was my 5th and final year working on the executive committee. I have really enjoyed working the festival and have meet some great people, but that weekend is all consuming and causes me to miss out on dedicated family time. It was a little different this year in that taking an extra day off after the festival gave me what could very well be a glimpse into the future.

Sierra has been wanting to play the guitar for a while now, but on Monday we made the commitment and after securing lessons, we bought a 3/4 acoustic guitar. It came home in the box and was immediately opened without my knowledge or help. When we heard some strange noises coming from the family room, it was Sierra playing a severely out of tune guitar and singing a song that Kathy said was from American Idol. (I’m not an Idol watcher, so it was new to me). Now, she reminds me of the movie La Bamba where Ritchie was taking his guitar with him everywhere he goes, to school, on dates, to bed… get my drift. She has gotten proficient at carrying it with her all around the house, and would take it everywhere if we let her. Read moreRead more
