Check me out on The School Of Podcasting

It is rare that I get interviewed, but if you tune in to this weeks School Of Podcasting, you will find that I am the featured member on this weeks episode. I talk about the vision for the podcast, gear, and the last 5 podcasts I listened to. Thanks to Dave Jackson for having me on. I know the podcasts and my blog wouldn’t be nearly as nice without his podcast!
Purpose For The Pain Tour: Washington DC
Last night I went into the city for the Purpose For The Pain Tour which featured Between The Trees, Nevertheless, Dan Evans, and a talk from Renee Yohe. Renee is the inspiration To Write Love On Her Arms.
I started out the night with an interview with Dan Evans. You may know Dan from Season 5 of NBC’s The Biggest Loser, where he participated with his Mom, Jackie. Dan has a new CD out called Goin All Out, and we talk about The Biggest Loser, the new CD, faith, and a scoop on behind the scenes. That interview will air on this weeks radio show.
After Dan’s set, Nevertheless took the stage and brought the rawk playing songs from their latest CD In The Making and played their big hits, Sleeping In and The Real.
Next Up was Renee’s talk. She started with an excerpt from her new book, A Purpose For The Pain, and she shared her life’s testimony in pretty specific detail covering topics from cutting, to be addicted to drugs and alcohol and attempted suicide. She shared about how she would probably not be here today if it were not for some friends of hers that were Christians. Not because they shared Christ with her and she was magically cured of her addictions, but because of the unconditional love they always showed to her. They were with t=her through the toughest of times, and never judged her, they just loved on her and that showed her more than words could ever do.
I was probably the oldest person in the crowd next to a couple of parents that had brought their teens to the show. I was towards the back of the crowd and I noticed that she was really connecting with the kids. I could see kids rubbing their arms where they had been cutting (I can only say that from the girl in front of me who had marks that were apparent to me) and others who were brought to tears. Thank God for Renee and TWLOHA. They are making a great impact to this generation.
I really wanted to stay for Between The Trees, but it was getting late and I had a 40 mile drive and get up early for work today. Man, I sound old!
This was a good night of great music and ministry. I only wish that the venue had done more to promote the show. The only way I knew about it was through an email list I am on. You should check this tour out if it comes near you!
