Time to blog..

You may have noticed that I have slowed down with the blog activity lately. There are a couple of reasons for that. I have had this nasty cold /virus for almost a month now that has taken away most of my voice. I’ve been on antibiotics and now I’m on a steroid but nothing seems to really work.

I also have recently started reading this book about blogging and they recommend that you should not blog from work, especially on a work computer because there have been cases where people have been fired for blogging on their personal blogs during working hours, but using a work computer. Makes sense to me.. I also noticed that in our company handbook that we can’t have blogs that are conflicts of interest. I don’t agree with that but I will follow the rules.

That leaves me with an interesting predicament. You see, I used to do most of my blog posts on my lunch hour, or at least start them then. Now that I am in the new building at work, there is not a wifi connection that I can use to do my blogging in my usual time frame. I am going to try and start using the scheduled posting within wordpress and see how that works. regardless, I’m going to start doing more on this blog and my personal blog. When do you blog?

Barry White meets Minnie Mouse..

Hey folks,
Sorry for the lack of posts over the last week or so. There were a couple of things that have happened to slow down my blogging. First, on my day job, after 15 years in the same building that is only 10 minutes from my house, my whole department was transferred to Herndon which at 6:00 am is about 30 minutes driveway to driveway. We are now working out of our corporate offices.

My new work space is less than half of what I had. I’m not complaining though because I am so thankful to be employed with a really good company. The only snag in leaving so early is that most of my blog posting was done in the time I am now commuting.

About 2 weeks ago, I came down with an unsavory bug that knocked me for a loop for a couple of days. I have since gotten over it, but my voice has never recovered. I went to the good Doctor and found out that I have a sinus infection and I am on heavy duty antibiotics. Just my luck, they are not the ones you can get for free. So I am taking a horse pill and the more I talk, the more I sound like the result of a weird recording where Barry White meets Minnie Mouse. Its a worse sound than when I lost my voice and had surgery 2 years ago. I’m going to catch up on the playlists and will most likely do another encore recording this week.

Eowyn

Hey!  Coming up on this weeks show is yet another interview from GMA Music Week featuring Eowyn.  She was really nice and I think this was perhaps one of the best interviews I did during GMA Week.  I am almost ready to post last week’s Chrisagis Brothers interview and will post them this weekend.

Eowyn’s Silent Screams CD is really good.  I like it more every time I listen to it.   I noticed this before with other people, but it is always interesting to me how when you meet a singer, sometimes their singing voice is not much different than their speaking voice.

Shaun GrovesBart Millard, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and Dolly Parton are a couple of examples off the top of my head that would fit into the singing voice is similar to the speaking voice category.  But then you get EowynSara Acker, and Marc Martel who’s singing voices are different than the speaking voices.  I love and have great respect for all of those artists, but it is just something I have observed.

Here is a video of Eowyn to get you ready for tomorrows show.  CIAO!
